Photographing High School seniors was always great fun, although I must admit, I only started doing it in the last few years of my photographic career.

These are kids getting ready to leave the shelter of the family and head out in to a new adult world.  For the most part, they were so easy to work with,  especially the girls.  I seldom had to work on poses...they had pre-rehearsed in front of a mirror.

The interesting part of senior photos was that you actually had to shoot for two different age groups...the kids and their friends, who liked outlandish behavior caught on film...and the parent and grandparents who wanted more traditional poses.

So I did both on every shoot.  But, I really was out to capture the very essence of the subject, and in most cases, I did.  I always gave them my recommendations for the best photos, but never put any pressure on them to chose what they wanted.

It was always so interesting to see the difference between today’s seniors and the seniors of my era.  Times indeed did change.
